Canada slips further into perdition as Trudeau bans single-use plastics

June 2022 Re: “PM’s single-use plastic ban is double trouble for taxpayers,” (Lorrie Goldstein, 23 June, Toronto Sun): As Lorrie points out, yet another Trudeau policy will result in great pain to the average Canadian, while reaping little to no benefit. Well, it will have one benefit, that being greater sales for the Glad Products …

Turning junk into a jewel – The Pride of Canada Carousel

June 2022 Carousels have been a popular amusement ride since the early 1800s, when John Joseph Merlin created a carousel in his Mechanical Museum in London in 1803. Originally serving as entertainment for London gentry and nobility, by the mid-1800s, they were a popular feature at fairs and carnivals. The inspiration for Merlin’s creation was …

No plastic for you! – Canada’s activist Environment Minister bans single-use plastic

June 2022 Now that Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault has announced that the federal government will ban single-use plastics by the end of 2023, I’m going to be buying stocks in the Glad Products Company. I have a feeling that sales of their kitchen catchers and garbage bags will skyrocket in 2024. Sources: Government will ban …

Virtue-signalling hypocrite

June 2022 Although I’m in favour of eliminating all mask mandates (wear one if you want to), including in the House of Commons, there is a delicious irony that our virtue-signaler-in-chief has turned wearing a mask in the House of Commons into a virtue-signaling exercise (Liberal wear them, at least on camera, because they love …

Chief throws Toronto Police officers under the bus

June 2022 Congratulations Chief Ramer. You just pained the entire Toronto Police Service as racists, including black officers, whom you are effectively calling as Uncle Toms. As Jamil Javani points out in his column “I do not accept Toronto Police Chief James Ramer’s apology, 16 June,” by labeling Toronto Police as systemically racist and insisting …

We’ve got Trump this time!! Honest!

June 2022 As reported by the Associated Press: “Members of the House committee investigating the U.S. Capitol riot say they’ve uncovered enough evidence for the Justice Department to consider an unprecedented criminal indictment against former President Donald Trump for seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election.” I hesitate to call them liars, as …

Bonnie View Inn – The sole survivor on Lake Kashagawigamog still providing great summer memories

June 2022 Looking out on Lake Kashagawigamog, there were once 17 lodges/resorts along this lake in the Haliburton Highlands area of central Ontario.
