I’m sure we’ve all now seen the photo of the French woman, caught up in the riots perpetrated by military-aged men (I didn’t see any women), helplessly watching as they loot and vandalize a grocery store in Nice, with the “What have I done?” look on her face, heartbrokenly bewildered at the realization that the immigrants she has been championing have played her for a complete schmuck. If anyone out there doesn’t see the riots that tore across France and other European cities isn’t a warning to North America, you have been sniffing too much of the woke left-wing glue that this woman has been consuming. She voted for this; she marched for this, and now she’s stunned that hugs and love don’t matter to these holligans.
The vast majority of Canadians aren’t against immigration. They just want immigration to be properly managed so it doesn’t overwhelm our housing, job availability and social support systems. We further need to ensure we prioritize those with needed job skills and make sure those we allow into Canada share values that are compatible with our liberal democracy.
I would also like the bleeding-hearts out there to stop conflating legal immigration with economic migrants, refugees and illegal immigration, which are completely distinct categories. Yes, Canada does need immigrants to keep our economy strong, but we don’t need anyone who wants to tear down our liberal democracy and replace it with the totalitarian theocracies of their homelands.
