While winter after the joy and colour of Christmas can be pretty dreary for some, for others, it’s the time to get creative.
Two Barrie families have built giant snowmen in their front yards, much to the delight of area residents.
Chad Hanna built a 17-foot-tall snowman on the front lawn of his Frost Trail home, something he’s done almost every year since 2009, missing only last year.
The snowman, whom Hanna has named Frosty, with a 20 gallon garbage pail for a hat, has become a local tourist attraction, with numerous visitors stopping by his house to take pictures.
Not to be outdone, fellow Barrie resident Justin MacNeil built his own snowman out front of his Lowrie Court home. While MacNeil’s snowman is skinnier, it also towers over the neighbourhood at 17-feet-tall.
Just eat of MacNeil’s home, keeping his snowman company, is yet another snowman, done up to resemble Olaf from the movie Frozen. While not 17-feet-tall, Olaf is still larger that most of the snowmen that pop-up across cities and towns each winter.
All of them do succeed in adding a little joy to a cold Canadian winter.
