Barrie Wrestling celebrates 10 years of grappling entertainment

November 2024

The trash talking, the body slams, the flying leaps of the turnbuckle. They were all there and more on 2 November at Ferris Lane Community Church in Barrie, Ontario.

The family-friendly pro wrestling company had their first event ever back on 1 November 2014, and have been providing a mix of hard-hitting action, fun and humour ever since.

Owned by Shawn Gibson, Barrie Wrestling has been a supporter of numerous charities in Barrie, such as Christmas Cheer and initiatives at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

For the 1oth anniversary event, TNA wrestling star and Barrie Wrestling original Jody Threat will take on European talent Sweet Boy MBM. Three Pistols champion and Orillia’s own Van Landon will defend his title and the very popular Flatliners have their first match in a Barrie Wrestling ring in over six years.

Barrie Wrestling Heavyweight champion, the hated Clay Wilson, leads a team of his Henchmen to face off against a team led by popular Pretty Ricky in a classic Survivor Series-style elimination match.

Popular grappler Anthony Musso takes on former friend Myung Jae Lee.

Barrie’s Classic Rock station Rock 95’s Ben McCully will be in attendance to debut his new wrestling talk show, Open Mic with McCully.

The show was also filmed for international streaming service IWTV and locally for Rogers TV Barrie.
