Re: “Trudeau Liberals fail city again, refuse to pay their bill,” Brian Lilley (27 July, Toronto Sun): the sheer chutzpah of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland to claim she can’t reimburse Toronto for the cost of housing and support for refugees, the very same ones that her boss has washed his hands of, because “…the ability of the federal government to spend money wasn’t infinite…” is aggravatingly hypocritical.
Freeland’s admission that money doesn’t grow on trees would normally be refreshing for this spendthrift government, except for the fact that when it comes to members of the Cult of Trudeau, spending money on themselves has never been an issue. Spend $30, 000 on a hotel in London: no problem! Spend $70, 000 on limos in Iceland: no problem! $54 million on the ArriveCan app: no problem! Travel around the world for superfluous reasons on the taxpayer’s dime: no problem! Reimburse Toronto for money spent on a federal responsibility: money doesn’t grow on trees! Deal with it yourselves and stop bothering us!
Are all you Toronto Liberal voters feeling great about yourselves now? This is how much the government that you elected thinks about you.
(It’s a pretty straight forward ask – refugees are a federal responsibility now pay the bill. Freeland is out of her depth – again)
