The hypocrisy of the “tolerant left” has been on full display in recent weeks, as the Democrats in the America and the Liberal Party of Canada north of the border, have engaged in something that no rational person could see as anything other than cynical political stunts. First, rookie Prime Minister Mark Carney recently signed an order reducing the Liberal’s signature consumer carbon tax to zero, in front of a room full of reporters, in a stunt identical to what we’ve seen President Donald Trump do to great success may times (I thought Trump was a Nazi and everything that he does is endorsed by Satan, but I digress.) This is after he and the Trudeau Liberals have been telling us for years and years that the carbon tax is essential to combatting the Climate Emergency®. So, are carbon taxes essential to “Saving the Planet” only if it benefits the Liberals re-election chances?
It should be noted that until Parliament is reconvened and legislation is passed, the carbon tax is not dead; it’s just on hiatus and can easily be revived. Also, keep in mind that Carney didn’t cancel the industrial portion of the carbon tax, which will be paid by lowly schmucks like us through higher costs for products and services and not by the “Big Polluters” as the Liberals insist, so there’s that too.
Now, we have Arizona Senator Mark Kelly posting a video on social media, where he proudly announces that he has sold his Tesla to protest Elon Musk’s participation in the Trump administration. As a replacement to his “zero emission” car, you know, the kind of car that we are all supposed to be driving if we want to save the planet from the Climate Emergency®, Senator Kelly very proudly announced that he has bought (wait for it!): A gasoline-powered Chevy Tahoe! That’s right, the Climate Emergency® doesn’t matter if you want to stick it to a man who, regardless of whether you like the administration he serves, is trying to save taxpayers from having their tax dollars wasted by entitled politicians, useless and bloated government departments and the activist groups who feed at the government trough.
If not for double standards, liberals would have no standards at all. I know that politicians frequently say one thing on the campaign trail, and then when in office, suddenly discover that they can’t do most of the things the promised. However, actions like what Carney, Kelly and many others like them have been pulling in recent months, are just so full of chutzpah that they should be ashamed of themselves. Sadly, they are not ashamed and I’m rather worried that the ignorant electorate will actually return politicians like them to office.
