The Dangerous Book For Boys

May 2007

I like the idea of this book. Kids today live too much in a bubble-wrapped world. I have fond memories about playing at the train tracks (still razz my parents about the safety nightmare of that), riding our bikes down really steep hills and sometimes hitting the fence that was right at the bottom the hill. We played with our cap guns, but sometimes took the cap rolls and put a magnifying glass on it until it blew up. We also used to run around with Black Cat firecrackers and M-90s (also known as miniature sticks of dynamite). What’s wrong with kids playing with dynamite? It’s just good wholesome fun. As far as I know, no one lost any fingers, just the occasional burned hand if he held onto it too long.

Oh the fun of being a kid!
