December 2020
So, Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips has now officially joined the long list of political hypocrites.
I’m a member of the PC Party of Ontario, so I don’t say this easily, but Minister Phillips should submit his immediate resignation as a minister.
This is yet another example of why Ontarians are getting frustrated with restrictions that we’ve all had to endure since March. Either we should all self-isolate, except for essential trips, or we should open up again with no harsher restrictions or expectations to self-isolate than we would normally endure during the annual cold and flu season.
We were all told that the borders were closed to non-essential travel, except that they clearly aren’t (an issue I have with Prime Minister Trudeau). That’s one issue that I have with Phillips, but the other is his obvious attempt at deception. Phillips posted several videos and pictures to social media, obviously filmed before his departure, that made it seem he was still in the country. For that reason alone, Premier Ford should demand his resignation, if he doesn’t offer it first.
It’s bad enough when politicians prove themselves to be hypocrites and play us for chumps, but when they engage in willful deceit, that crosses a line.
Now if only we could get Torontonians to realize that Justin Trudeau is playing us for chumps and being deceitful too, and vote his government out of office, seeing as we can’t fire him any other way.
