It’s unknown if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will live to see the Russians chased out of his country, as he’s reportedly target No. 1 for the invading Russian Army. President Zelensky, along with former President Petro Poroshenko and many other politicians, have taken up arms and are fighting alongside their fellow Ukrainians. This is a stance that could see him loose his life and is something that few of Canada’s politicians would do if Canada was invaded.
President Zelensky had become an unlikely hero in the war. The former comedian, actor, who is also a good dancer, has turned down offer from other countries to evacuate him to safety, if for no other reason, to establish a government-in-exile. Zelensky’s response has been, “I need ammunition, not a ride.”
If President Zelensky survives this war, I’d like to nominate him to be our Prime Minister after his term as President ends (voluntarily, and not because Putin says so). If not PM, then definitely Minister of National Defence.
Could Canada’s Parliamentarians also finally get off the green-dreams and build pipelines so that we can export our vast oil and natural gas resources to international markets. That way, we and other free nations can get off the Russian and OPEC oil that funds world despots? There’s no reason why Canada can’t be both energy independent and one of the biggest suppliers of ethical and environmentally responsible petroleum products to the world.
