November 2024
So, Justin Trudeau is trying to re-brand himself as “The Cash Man” (apologies to Russell Oliver), by giving us a break on the GST for two months for selected groceries, restaurant meals, beer and wine, children’s clothing and toys and diapers. Additionally, he will send a $250 cheques to Canadians who “…earned up to $150,000 in 2023…” (Am I the only one who hopes that Premier Doug Ford announces soon that he will be sending out cheques for $251? Apologies to Bob Barker.)
Wow, what an unexpected development! This coming from a guy who just a few days ago, speaking at a Global Citizen conference in Rio de Janeiro, stated, and I will paraphrase here, that Canadians need to starve and freeze in the dark so that we can save the planet by paying carbon taxes, and should like it.
Has Justin finally figured out that not everyone has a trust fund like he does, and have been struggling financially for years due to his economy-killing policies that hurt those he adamantly professes to care so much about, but really doesn’t? Has he finally figured out that taxes are too high for those outside of Liberal-dominated electoral regions, like Toronto and the Maritimes? Yeah, I’m going with a hard NO!
It’s his cynical attempt to avoid his inevitable, crushing defeat in the next election, which I’m suspecting will be shortly after we get those $250 cheques next April.
