Mind the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves

January 2024 Most Canadians understand the necessity to pay taxes in order to fund government operations and our social services. They may not like the fact that taxes have a negative effect it has on their bank balance, but they can at least understand. However, when you come across government waste, it can be a …

Stories and Hymns – Joseph Scriven memorialized in Port Hope

December 2023 Memorial Park, in downtown Port Hope, Ontario, is a popular gathering place. Complete with a playground for the children, a bandshell, the town’s cenotaph and plenty of open space for leisure, it also has something that looks quite out of place. What looks like a tombstone found in a typical cemetery, is actually …

It’s about freedom of choice

December 2023 So, now that the Trudeau Government has officially decreed that they will be going forward with the elimination of sales of gas-powered vehicles, I’m publicly challenging the major auto manufacturers to decide whether they’re going to follow this order, or sell products that the buying public actually want to buy.  Bottom line, no …

December 2023 Re: “Sneaky renaming of Dundas Square to Sankofa Square is revisionist madness” (Joe Warmington, Toronto Sun, 15 Dec.): Oy Vey!! In a decision that could have been ripped from a headline from satirical news outlets like The Onion or The Babylon Bee, Toronto City Council voted to change the name of Yonge-Dundas Square …

Just can’t get enough of Depeche Mode

November 2023 On 5 November, I took my daughter to her first “official” concert: Depeche Mode. The band were on their Memento Mori Tour, in support of the album of the same name. I say first “official” because we had twice been to concerts before, once when she was eight, but we had to leave …

November 2023 Since the mid-nineteenth century, the railways were once a vital transportation link for the movement of people and goods in the days before the automobile and paved roads. Is the tide turning against the Cult of Trudeau?

November 2023 Stunning news! Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault just lost a federal court case on 16 November, with Justice Angela Furlanetto ruling that Guilbeault’s order labelling all plastics products as toxic is “both unreasonable and unconstitutional.” Are we finally seeing the turning of the tide against Trudeau’s woke, virtue-signaling, economy-killing agenda? Combined with Prime Minister …
