August 2021
The cover photo on the 17 August edition of the Toronto Sun was a heart-wrenching reminder of the failure of not only NATO to actually make a difference in Afghanistan, but also Justin Trudeau’s failure to get the Afghanis who assisted the Canadian Forces, and their families out of Afghanistan, despite knowing the danger they faced for years.
The photo of Alan Kurdi, lying dead on a Turkish beach, has been cited as one of the reasons for Stephen Haper’s defeat. Will this cover photo, showing two women and two children, all of whom may not live to see the end of the week, spell big trouble for Trudeau, or do we actually have to wait for a photo of dead children?
Trudeau has had six years to do something about this crisis. This failure is on his head.
