Although I am a conservative, I don’t support the giving Quebec any more money than any other “have-not” province. No more buying their loyalty.
I say it’s time to call Quebec’s bluff and cut off this bottomless pit of money. Although I certainly don’t want to see the country break up, one of two things will happen: either Quebec will cease their endless demands or they will separate; both of which will save the rest of Canada money. Of course, this doesn’t include the money that Quebec will have to pay Canada for all the federal property in the province and their share of the national debt. My guess is they will stay. Quebec needs Canada as much as Canada needs Quebec.
