Memorial Garden opened at the Midland Pet Cemetery – A final resting place for our furry friends

On 14 June 2022, World Pet Memorial Day, the Midland Branch of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Midland, Ontario, officially unveiled a memorial garden at the site of a disused, but still maintained pet cemetery on their property.

The revitalization of this pet cemetery includes a variety of plants and shrubbery, with wooden benches for visitors to sit and remember the furry friends who have been laid to rest here.

A collection of small tombstones with names like Buddy, Pixie, Skipper and Sunny can be found in the cemetery, which has been closed to new burials for over a decade.

While the Midland Pet Cemetery is closed to new burials, there are other pet cemeteries still operating across the province:
