Just when you thought Trudeau’s complete failure to secure a reliable vaccine supply couldn’t sink any lower, he found a way.
Trudeau has stated Canada would be getting vaccines from COVAX, a mechanism designed to ensure third-world countries could get access to the vaccines for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Virus. Although there is nothing prohibiting Canada from doing this, I could argue that it certainly violates the spirit of the program.
Trudeau has defended the move, saying that half of Canada’s “…contribution was always intended to access vaccine doses for Canadians as well as to support lower-income countries.”
He reached an even lower low, when it was announced that Trudeau has now resorted to begging for vaccines manufactured in India from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi’s response was that his country will “…do its best to facilitate supplies of COVID vaccines sought by Canada,” which is likely the diplomatic equivalent of saying, “Get stuffed.”
Just to refresh everyone’s memory, this is the same Modi whom Trudeau offended, along with the rest of India, during his embarrassing Bollywood-style tour of India. On this trip, amongst Trudeau’s entourage was Jaspal Atwal, a man who was convicted of attempting to kill an Indian cabinet minister on Vancouver Island in 1986. It’s beyond me why Modi would feel the need to do any favours for Trudeau.
Justin Trudeau is facing growing pressure to speed up Canada’s sluggish distribution of the vaccines for the CCP Virus. Canada has only vaccinated 2.38% of its population, one of the lowest rates among developed nations.
With a recent announcement that the government is building a new domestic vaccine production facility, but it won’t become operational until 2022, and critics have questioned why investment in production wasn’t stepped up sooner.
That question sums up Trudeau’s handling of almost every aspect of this global pandemic. Instead of being a leader, Trudeau is constantly playing catch-up.
