June 2021
With Premier Doug Ford’s sudden announcement that he would like to see in-person graduation ceremonies for students at the end of June, just three short weeks away, the usual crowd are losing their collective minds over how this could possibly be done, safely, in such a short period. I’d like to offer a suggestion: if you (school administrators) can do it, then do it; if you can’t, then don’t. It doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that.
While the reality is that it won’t be possible for most schools, your graduating students would certainly appreciate any efforts to make it happen. Instead of having a “can-do” attitude, too many people have a “can’t-do” attitude. How many accomplishments in human history would still be dreams if some determined person didn’t make it happen?
