Hit them where it really hurts

October 2020

Police have recently announced numerous arrests and charges related to illegal street-racing and burn-out competitions in places like Wasaga Beach and the GTA. While this is a good thing, I have a better idea.

Since the taxpayers are going to have to shoulder the costs for the court process, in addition to the police resources that have been working for years to curtail this reckless “Fast & Furious” behaviour, I say we should get our money’s worth.

Instead of charging those caught committing these stunts, the police should seize and then immediately crush the offending cars. Of course, in two or three years, the taxpayers may have to pay reparations to the owner for destroying their property without due process, but to me this would be money well spent.

The idiots engaging in this obnoxious and dangerous behaviour don’t care about fines, or possibly even a short jail stint. What they really care about is their tricked-out car and their (anti)social media status.

I say let’s hit them where it will really hurt.
