Fake news strikes again?

Toronto Sun

30 March 2019

On 26 March 2019, Cook County prosecutors on Tuesday dropped all charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett for allegedly staging a phony attack and claiming he was the victim of a hate crime back in January.

The public should be told the exact reason why the charges were dropped. If Jussie really is innocent, he deserves a public apology from a lot of people, myself included, but dropping the charges after a Grand Jury indicted him demands an equally public explanation!

We all know that celebrity-status, or high political status or connections, can get you off charges (*cough* Trudeau *cough*) that would see a conviction and jail time for us of the unwashed masses.

One of the problems here is how can any of us trust anything now? In this era of fake news and anything for attention and social media clicks, this is a devastating development. This wasn’t a case of rumor and innuendo. There was evidence that was presented before a Grand Jury who approved the laying of the charges.

I hope by the time this is published, a valid explanation has been presented, but we shouldn’t have to wait even that long.

Now if only there was a way that the Canadian pubic could get to the bottom of the LavScam scandal. Hmmm, nope. Can’t think of anything.
