Enough greenwashing

February 2011

Re:  Enough green-washing (Totonto Sun, February 4, 2011), Charles Adler hits the nail on
the head.  Three or four times a week, I go to my favourite coffee shop
for a cup of coffee.  I always order it in a ceramic mug, rather than a
disposable cup.  However, I frequently chuckle to myself, wondering if I
am really doing the environment any good.  Sure, there is one less cup
in the garbage, or that has to be recycled, but is this really better
than the energy that must be consumed to wash the mug in a dishwasher?
According to Newton’s Laws of Motion, “To every action, there is an
equal and opposite reaction.”
