Doing politics differently? – Liberals court Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner

February 2023

Claiming he wants to do politics differently, Ontario Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner is apparently prepared to engage in the age-old game of political opportunism, as he “consults” his colleagues, friends and constituents as to whether he should abandon the Green Party and run for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal party.

Regardless of whether he runs or not, the fact that he has publicly stated that he will be “consulting,” instead of outright ruling-out a leadership bid, Schreiner has shown he’s willing to sell his soul, not for the only acceptable reason (for Rock and Roll), but for power, if the price is right. It would be political suicide for him to jump into the leadership race, only to lose to another challenger, so is he angling for an uncontested leadership race?
