America has spoken, but the nation is more divided than ever

November 2020

Congratulations to President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-Elect Kamala Harris on your electoral success. As a Canadian, I obviously couldn’t legally vote for either of you, although I wouldn’t have even if I could. Some might argue that it doesn’t matter if I’m an American citizen or not, but that’s another story.

Your assentation to the White House, however, is not a ringing endorsement of your plans to implement a socialist agenda, kill the natural resource sector (in both Canada and the U.S.), one that could pay for that socialist agenda, and bow down to China and their United Nations lackies.

The political divisions in America have never been bigger, and your assertion that you will govern for all, regardless of whether they are Democrats or Republicans, will ring hollow if you don’t make an effort to mend those divisions, some of which you contributed to personally. Can we finally get away from identity politics and from liberals calling anyone from the political right racists/nazis? Sensible people, who include conservatives, are quite tired of this dishonest narrative.

You said that any blacks who voted for President Trump, “Not black.” Well, apparently a lot of blacks disagreed with you and cast their vote for Trump, increasing the number of black votes he received in 2016. Same goes for other non-white voters, including historic numbers of Latino, Asian American, and Native American voters; the largest in the Republican Party’s history.

This is despite the fact that the Democratic Party and its supporters spent the last four years telling us that Trump was a racist and a Nazi. It’s funny how no one accused Trump of being a racist before he announced he was running for President, but I digress.

Amongst the things you need to do to actually mend these divisions and actually govern ALL Americans, you need to stop demonizing those who disagree with you politically as racists, nazis or as a “Basket of Deplorables,” like Senator Clinton famously did.

You also need to stop bending to, or at least tacitly supporting, all the left-wing radical groups, whose only objective is anarchy and the destruction of capitalism and America. These groups that riot, demolish private property, and attack police unprovoked. While capitalism and America certainly do have its negative aspects, it has afforded you a lot of nice things in life.

Your party spent the past 4 years launching investigations into alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 election and impeaching Trump on spurious charges, all of which ultimately proved to be groundless and hyper-partisan.

You achieved your goal. The “Bad Orange Man” will be leaving office this January. Now show that you can be a gracious leader and that you really want to govern for everyone.

By the way, on the subject of Vice-President-Elect Kamala Harris becoming the first woman to hold this office, how many of you were vilifying and tearing down Governor Sarah Palin, when she ran for VP in 2008? Would it have made a difference to any of you if she was running on the Democratic ticket?
